April 21, 2016, Allenton, WI – Earlier this month, Maysteel was honored to host a group of students from Moraine Park Technical College’s Weld and Fabrication Technologies course. The purpose of the visit was to give students an opportunity to tour a modern sheet metal manufacturing facility and interact with people who could someday be their peers.
Reflecting on the experience, one of the students commented that, “it was pleasant to see a large manufacturing facility that is focused on many of the processes that we are learning in class. Our visit reinforced my decision to choose this career path. There are a lot of opportunities in this area to gain important knowledge and on-the-job training.”
“My students enjoyed the conversations and diverse knowledge while touring the fabrication, welding and paint departments. Without tours like this, students would have to rely on hearsay, YouTube videos and my experiences.” the course instructor, Steve Henderleiter, went on to say.
This was another great learning opportunity for the students and provided Maysteel a forum for promoting the manufacturing skills/needs of local businesses.
